History
Horizon Quantum was founded in 2018 by Dr Joe Fitzsimons when he left a tenured position at the Singapore University of Technology and Design to focus on building the software infrastructure needed to accelerate the journey to practical quantum computing. The company commenced operations in Singapore in 2019.
In 2023, Horizon Quantum opened a second office in Dublin, Ireland. Later that year, the company launched early access to Triple Alpha—its integrated development environment—and demonstrated the first instance of interactive quantum computing enabled by the system. The following year, Horizon unveiled advanced capabilities in Triple Alpha, including dynamic memory management, pulse control, and measurement-based quantum computation.
In 2025, the company took a major step towards hardware-software integration by establishing a hardware testbed at its Singapore headquarters, making Horizon Quantum the first quantum software company to own and operate its own quantum computer.
